I’m in the kitchen every chance I get, creating and modifying recipes!
I’ve always loved to cook! My mom taught me how to make many of her
delicious Italian recipes. Lucky me! Until I was a teenager, I didn’t even know
what fast or processed food was.
Kraft slices? Bottled salad dressings? Reheat and eat tomato sauce?
Cake mixes? Who knew!
When I left home, I relied on what I had learned from my mom
and used cookbooks. It wasn’t long before I discovered how fun it was
to create my own recipes.
This quote is exactly how I feel about cooking!
“A recipe is merely words on paper: a guideline, a starting point from
which to improvise. It cannot pretend to replace the practiced hands
and telling glance of a watchful cook. For that reason, feel free to stir
your own ideas (into this dish). When you cook it once, it becomes yours,
so personalize it a bit. Add more of an ingredient you like or less of
something you don’t like. Try substituting one ingredient for another.
Remember words have no flavor, you have to add your own!”
